The Students’ Association of GPRC (SAGPRC) is a non-profit, autonomous advocacy organization that is dedicated to bettering the lives of GPRC students. Located in the heart of the GPRC main campus, SAGPRC strives to provide an exemplary level of advocacy, representation and services. We are currently in search of an Executive Director who shows a passion for student needs, is capable with financial and internal controls, and can provide effective mentorship for student leaders.

POSITION: Executive Director

DEADLINE: July 16th, 2021

HOURS OF WORK: The position is 37.5 hours per week with the requirement to work some evenings and weekends.

COMPENSATION: Annual salary starting at $60,000 to $70,000 (depending on experience) including vacation time, professional development opportunities, health and dental benefits, bonuses, and travel opportunities.


Working with the Executive Council, the Executive Director (ED) acts as the chief steward for the organization managing and directing all operations, programs, and activities of the Students’ Association (SA). The ED is accountable to the SA President with regards to implementing the policy decisions, directives, and goals of the Executive Council (on organizational matters, communications, and advocacy). The Executive Director has a fiduciary responsibility to the Students’ Association.

Major Duties:

Duties are assigned by the President and/or the Executive Council including but not limited to the following:

  • Assisting in the preparation and administration of the annual budget and ensuring the overall financial health of the organization;

  • Hiring, evaluating, and supervising all administrative staff (managers/assistants/consultants);

  • Mentorship of all elected student positions in the administration of their roles;

  • Any and all other duties as prescribed by the Executive Council and the Students’ Council.



In addition to the major duties the Executive Director is also responsible for the following:

  • Represent the best interests of the Students’ Association in meetings and other related business;

  • Accountable to the SA President for goals set by Executive Council;

  • Reporting progress on organizational short- and long-term objectives to the Executive Council;

  • Administration of all affairs of the Students’ Association not otherwise allocated to the members of the Students’ Council or the Executive Officers;

  • Representation of the Students’ Association in any capacity feasible, in the event that the usual Students’ Association member is unavailable for representation; and;

  • Overseeing office and all tasks related to office operations on both campuses;

  • Communicate and consult with the staff of the SA, on both campuses.



  • Diploma preferred, business, political science, public administration, public policy, or other related fields;

  • Experience in non-profits is an asset;

  • Experience with student associations is an asset;

  • Ability to lead, mentor, motivate, and empower student leaders;

  • Well organized with excellent leadership skills;

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills;

  • Experience in stakeholder relations is an asset;

  • Ability to navigate complex issues within the context of the organization’s policy directives; 

  • The ability to convey the ideas of others to a range of audiences and build relationships to influence change;

  • Ability to work independently;

  • Grant writing knowledge is an asset.


Future Executive Director:

            The candidate we are looking for will have a clear ability to communicate clearly and effectively to multiple audiences. Show an ability to lead students in leadership roles as well as lead the managers, and assistants in the association. It would be a definite asset to have previous experience with a Students’ Association or other non-profit organization. We are looking for someone skilled in critical thinking with excellent interpersonal skills through written and oral communication.
